Under the new asylum scheme, everyone with a pending I-589 application will have to pay an annual asylum fee (AAF) of $100 for each year that the case is pending. As of October 1, 2025, USCIS has started sending out notices to all asylum applicants with pending cases. Upon receipt of that notice, asylum applicants are required to pay the fee within 30 days. Payment is to be made online by going to https://my.uscis.gov/acc…/annual-asylum-fee/start/overview.

Please note, this does not apply to anyone whose asylum case has already been decided. If you have changed address, it is very important that you update that address with the court immediately to ensure that you receive the notice.
